A lot of you probably already know that I have gained muscle over the past 6 years, but most of the changes I made weren’t physical. I was unfit, unhealthy, depressed & had terrible self esteem. I became healthy, fit, strong mentally & physically & happy. I broke out of the jail I’d locked myself in! I started believing I could do better than that - I deserved better. I started eating nutritious food & a lot of it, I started moving more; lifting weights & doing high intensity interval training, I started being more positive about my life & myself & became more appreciative of the things I had. I got some ‘perspective’ - things weren’t as bad as I thought. I really had it good & decided not to waste any more time being miserable & feeling sorry for myself & decided to do something about it. Sometimes when we’re so caught up in what’s “wrong” in our life we feel like we're drowning & see no escape. We feel as though the effort we’d have to make to escape is so HUGE that we actually believe it’s impossible so we don’t even bother. We go on & on feeling miserable & unsatisfied - “stuck” just where we are. When you look at anything as a whole & the work that’s involved it all seems impossible, this is why I believe that breaking down goals into baby steps is the way to go. It’s all about progress & being proud of each step you take. If you keep taking those steps you’ll end up just where you want to be. The only thing is, you actually have to START first. The start of anything new is always the hardest. The longer you chug along the easier it gets. Keep your “ultimate goal" in your mind constantly. Every time you want to give up, remember why you started. Are you going to be happy if you don’t try? I mean really TRY! If you know you won’t be content if you stay just where you are then YOU need to start taking action - make changes in all areas of your life if you have to & start being more positive. - No more putting things in the “impossible” pile. Make the effort & make it happen, nobody cares as much as you do, nobody is going to do it for you & you’re not gong to get there by sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. You've got this! GO GET IT!????

A couple of months ago I got extremely run down and unwell so I made a promise to myself to start taking time out for myself almost every day and I've been doing just that!! Even if it's only 10 mins I just use that time to switch off and do NOTHING! It's so hard for me to do though, I have trouble relaxing and I hold a lot of energy and tension. Whenever I can I head down to the pool in my apartment building and lay in the sun and go for a swim. The sun makes me feel amazing. I wear sun protection and restrict the time I spend in the sun though because we all know how dangerous it can be. I also love going for a walk along the beach, going to the steam room and of course lifting weights or doing some sort of high intensity training. I find because I have so much trouble switching off and relaxing that training helps me do just that believe it or not! Thank you so much to everyone for their birthday wishes!!O??? My amazing managers and good friends @_sammangan & Court (@spinandco) took me to lunch, then I spent the afternoon laying by the pool missing my friends & family but then decided not to be miserable and I made the most of my day.?? Are you new to working out and eating healthy? I thought I'd share some of my top tips on how to get started! 1. Get my program! Haha!?? 2. Learn as much as you can about exercise and healthy food. 3. Choose to have back-to-basics foods which are foods that are closest to their natural state - unprocessed, low in processed sugar. 4. Experiment with meals and look at ways to make your favourite dishes healthier. 5. Start slowly and progress into it. You don't have to spend hours in the gym to get fit, just start by moving - go for a walk, bike ride or swim! Remember the hardest part is the start, once you start feeling great you won't want to stop and you can progress from there. 6. Choose exercise you enjoy - let's be honest, if you hate doing something you're not going to want to keep going. 7. Get a workout buddy - someone who can help motivate you and keep you accountable. It's so much easier reaching fitness goals when you're not alone and it's more enjoyable having other positive likeminded people to get fit with. Who you surround yourself with is so important! 8. Create structure! Plan a workout schedule and make the time to do them. Write them in your diary like an appointment if you have to, that way you won't have the excuse of having no time. Plan your meals ahead of time and pre make them if you can. That way you're less likely to opt for unhealthy food. 9. Always be proud of each step you take towards being a better you. My 28 Day & 12 Week Meal & Workout Programs???? Link in my bio. ~ What's your attitude towards yourself every day? Are you positive about yourself? Do you believe you can achieve your goals? Telling yourself you're no good at something or you're never going to achieve something is not going to help you achieve it, in fact it is the biggest thing preventing you from achieving whatever it is you want. This can apply to fitness or anything else in life. If you want the best chance at achieving your goals then you need to believe you can achieve them and believe you're deserving of them. So many times in the past I have stopped myself from doing things or reaching goals because I didn't believe I was "good enough" - I thought I was pathetic and a failure and would beat myself up about it. I'd tell myself horrible, nasty things that only made me feel miserable and worse about myself - and guess what? I wasn't able to achieve anything with that mentality! It was a constant cycle. It's important to not only believe in yourself but you've got to be proud of yourself and every small achievement you make and not be so hard on yourself all the time. It's good to have high expectations of yourself providing it's not negatively affecting you because you never feel "good enough". Treat yourself how you'd treat your loved ones. ?? Positive thoughts and affirmations make a world of difference! Get into a habit of being positive and kinder to yourself every day. How often do you spend chilling out and relaxing? This is something I pretty much never did until only pretty recently. I neglected "my time" because I felt like I didn't have the time to relax. Truth is, if I don't make the time then my body ends up forcing me to take time out because I end up run down or sick. Sometimes we need to ask ourselves, what are we really SO busy with that we don't even have 10 minutes to sit and do nothing? Doing this helps us to be more productive with our time, we feel calmer, less stressed and have a clearer and more focused mind. Try taking even just 10 minutes a day to just be still, calm and not be on your phone or computer. Take a moment to breathe slowly and deeply and relax ourselves. Even this small amount of time out to do nothing makes a big difference with how you feel mentally and physically each day. Give it a go! O????? Do you take time out? My programs???? www.emilyskye.com/fit ~ I've been reading through a lot of comments and have noticed some common comments: "I don't have time to workout every day", "I can't afford a PT", "I love food too much" etc. You don't have to workout everyday or need a PT to get fit and you definitely don't under eat. When you make eating healthy and being active part of your life long term you don't have to worry about having the odd treat or not being able to exercise for a period of time. People seem to think that I workout for hours every day and I mustn't eat much food to stay lean. This is NOT the case. I can count on one hand how many times I have exercised this past month! I have been busy traveling and have had some time off training but I have been consistently eating nutritious food as well as enjoying treats a couple of times a week. Your diet is the most important if you want to burn fat. Everyone is different and of course what works for one might not work for another. For me I normally like to lift weights and do HIIT a few times a week (usually 3 times) - I train hard when I go to the gym because I personally don't want to spend every day in the gym. I also hate cardio so I don't do long cardio session, just HIIT. I love my food as well so I have meals that are highly nutritious but also taste amazing. I love eating chocolate and ice cream so I have it 1-2 times a week if I want it. I don't want to live feeling deprived, I want to enjoy my life so that's what I'm doing and it's working. - Physical and mental health is what's important to me. Find what works for you and stick to that! Change up your training to stop plateaus and do what you enjoy. Don't be afraid to have treats but try to have nutritious food most of the time if you want to feel your best. This is my lifestyle and for me it's all about balance, feeling good and enjoying myself. . ? If you would like guidance from me, I've put everything I know into my F.I.T. Changing up your routine could be just the thing you need to do to improve your results. This can be done both through your training and nutrition. I recently made some changes to my diet. The changes in my body that I've noticed have been pretty huge. Not only has my bloating disappeared I've also been able to get leaner while still eating a huge amount of food. I've also changed my training up a fair bit. I've started to incorporate a lot more high intensity interval sessions. As well as time under tension lifting sessions. I get asked a fair bit from people that wonder why they aren't seeing results from their training or nutrition. Especially considering they're very consistent with both. I would say this every time. Once you set a pattern, your body will get used to it. If you're doing the same training over and over again as well as eating the same foods over and over again your body can get to the point where it doesn't respond anymore. This is often referred to as a plateau. The best way to get out of a plateau is to change things up a bit. That change can be different from person to person. What I do recommend though is to experiment on yourself. Change up your diet and training and I'm sure you'll see an improvement! What changes have you made to get yourself out of a plateau?
